I didn’t grow up watching Disney movies and exploring Theme Parks, instead my father was teaching my mother, sisters and I the skills and techniques we need to survive living in the countryside of Guyana, South America. After mastering how to run from a snake and alligator, it was time for us to move to NYC in the hopes of a better, safer life. I mean, imagine the culture shock little 11 year old me had to face! With embracing who I am today and where I came from, I take my unique life experiences everywhere I go and find joy introducing my culture to those who ask, “where are you from?”
I graduated with an MFA in Acting from The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the U.K with distinction. I wrote an autoethnography and performed a one woman show in search of my freedom and identity as a West Indian-Caribbean woman. I was nominated for best actress in a One-Act play festival in NYC and also won best actress playing Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. When I’m not on stage or on camera, I am a content creator for Instagram and TikTok with over a quarter million followers who enjoy the relatable topics and cultural exposure I bring to social media. During my free time, I enjoy cooking, doing lifestyle photoshoots and painting with my sisters or doing my nieces and nephews’ hair!
